I have to admit that I struggled with coming up with a topic for this month’s newsletter. Every time I’d try to have a creative thought, my logical brain kept coming back to the list of things I needed to do. Does that sound familiar?

Whether you’re struggling to achieve something traditionally creative like writing and the arts or simply a project which requires your full attention, the best remedy for it can be space.

Happy New Year!! It seems so odd to hear those words when it feels like we started 2015 forever ago. As with every other year I can remember, this one started with a bang -- We hit the ground running and haven’t looked back!

Everyone seems to be trying to figure out how to fit more work into the workday, increase their participation at the gym by 700%, and still manage to spend more time with their family at the end of it all.

We’re closing out 2014 and I have to say, overall, it as been a good year for me, my family, and our business. Does that mean we need to go softly into 2015? Not a chance!

This is the time of year when we always have a few customers looking to make a final IT investment for the year, where we are pushing ourselves to finish those last couple of internal projects we’ve had on the back burner for about forever, and to just get the top of the desk clean.

Thanksgiving and the beginning of the holiday season is upon us. I remind myself to be sure to not overdo it this year, to only go to as many gatherings as will allow us to keep sane, and to do our best to keep a low-stress, even keel approach to the next several weeks.

My wife and I traveled south for a family wedding recently and decided to take a few extra days to check out the area while we were there. As we were driving from the airport to our first destination, we saw a roadside stand with what appeared to be handmade baskets.

Last month I talked about the evolution of change and I kept thinking about it even after I finished the article. It wasn’t so much that I continued that path of thought, it was more about completing the path: A cycle.

We’ve been fortunate enough to be with some of our customers long enough to see them go through cycles, the same way you’ve seen them yourselves.

Every so often, I find myself reflecting on the evolution of ETB Services, Inc. How is our industry changing, how are our people changing, and how is our business being affected by all of the changes around us.

What I found myself focusing on most recently is how the growth of our customers affects us.

One question I get asked on a regular basis is “How has technology changed?”. I’m not talking about being asked this as a general, but more in regards to “What have I missed?”.

I get this question most frequently when someone has been out of the loop from a technology perspective and they are getting ready to re-enter into it.

The topic on my mind this month is determination. This is something that I respect in others and strive to maintain in myself. As we’re getting into the time of year for fundraising race events, I’m reminded of someone who is a great display of this strong type of determination.
