Erik’s Editorial Corner

erik_barnshawI am proud to say that my grandfather was one of the many men and women who have served our country in the military. We all recognized these courageous individuals this month on the 4th of July. I was also fortunate to attend another ceremony at the end of the month.

There is a daily ceremony held at Sunset Beach in Cape May, NJ to honor those who have served. For over 40 years, all of the flags they fly at their mast are veterans' casket flags that families bring with them from their loved one's funeral. It was a privilege and a very personal moment I was able to share with my family as my grandfather’s flag was raised and lowered on the 22nd.

These kind of long-standing traditions shape their area, the same way creating traditions in your business can shape your culture as well. Find something you are proud of and recognize the involved individuals for their accomplishment. It can be an employee of the month plaque or recognition for individuals that go above and beyond in their volunteerism for an organization your company supports. Find something that creates a bond and a tradition that you can be proud to say you not only recognize but encourage within your employees.

Thanks for your business and make it a great day!

Warm Regards,
