Happy New Year!! It seems so odd to hear those words when it feels like we started 2015 forever ago. As with every other year I can remember, this one started with a bang -- We hit the ground running and haven’t looked back!
Everyone seems to be trying to figure out how to fit more work into the workday, increase their participation at the gym by 700%, and still manage to spend more time with their family at the end of it all. It sounds a bit overwhelming to me and my resolution for this year is to try to figure out how to DO LESS.
You heard that right: How can I make this a better year by doing less? Rather than just piling on more things to my potentially overly ambitious goals, I’m trying to think about how can I increase my likelihood of reaching them by cutting things out. I know what you’re thinking: “I need to do all of this and MORE. How could I possibly accomplish more by doing less?” That’s a very good question and one to which I’m striving to find the answer myself.
The plan is to look at my days and my plans objectively and find where the “fluff” is eating away my time. For some people that could be Facebook and Instagram, for others it could be long lunches or too much TV, or maybe it’s not that obvious. The key is to recognize where that fine line exists between keeping up with contacts and using it as an excuse to avoid doing something you know you don’t really want to do.
I believe you should always have an outlet to relax and regroup. It’s a gray zone to figure out when necessary and helpful crosses over into wasteful and counterproductive for each person. But what I do know is that once I can figure that out, it will reduce my stress and make the path to my goals more direct. I invite you to join me on my quest to accomplish more by doing less in 2015 and good luck.
Thanks for your business and make it a great day!
