I saw a bunch of kids riding bikes and skateboards down the hill of our office driveway the other day and my first thought was, “That’s not safe!” I was worried about them running into cars or getting hurt.
At some point in life, I’d gone from thinking what a great idea something like that would be, to approaching it from a more practical and responsible place. It’s neat to notice how our perspectives on any one thing can change over time. Our perspectives are based on our experiences, our resources, and a multitude of other factors.
What’s important is to become aware of the changes and to decide if they fit or not. It could be noticing the changes in how you run your company since you’ve increased your number of employees or that you’re now packing fruit instead of chips in your kids’ lunch boxes. The key is to be proud of yourself for the changes that improve the lives of you and your family and to give careful consideration to if you want to keep the changes that make things more difficult. It could be good or it could be bad – But change will always be a constant.
Of course the adventurer in me respected the kids for finding a good hill. I’m also proud to be the man who can now see the potential results of these adventures as well.
Thanks for your business and make it a great day!
