The holidays are fast approaching and time seems to be passing too quickly for many of us. It’s easy to get caught up in the momentum and feel a loss of control and increased stress.
What I try to keep in mind is that these things -- additional holiday commitments, other people’s expectations, and society’s pressures -- are not going to change. I can only control my reactions to them. As was mentioned to me recently, stress is simply a reminder that we have an opportunity to do something better.
Repeat that to yourself and really let it sink in. It makes a lot of sense and it helped me to gain a new perspective on the holidays as well as some of the pressures in my work life. Instead of letting the stress of a work situation fluster me, I take a couple of extra seconds to evaluate it and see if there’s anything I could be doing differently that might make things easier for me and my team. Maybe I need to be delegating more, utilizing more support from a vendor, or simply slowing down enough to plan a good strategy. When you look at it that way, stress truly does become an opportunity.
From our ETB family to yours, we hope you enjoy the “opportunities” of the holidays and your time with loved ones. We have truly appreciated serving you and our community in 2012.
Thanks for your business and make it a great day!
