Happy 2012 everyone! I’m excited to tell you this New Year brought a new member to our team. Please join me in welcoming Bill McElhaney, our new Network Administrator.
Bill has 11 years of IT experience, a knack for figuring things out, and he’s Microsoft Certified. Coming from a company with a lot of similarities to ETB has given him the advantage of already knowing and understanding some of the software programs and practices we use every day. We’re glad to have Bill as a part of our ETB family and we’re fortunate he’s been able to really hit the ground running.
There’s a lot of value in that and something I try to keep in mind when I’m thinking about scrapping something old and start something new from scratch. Certainly, there are times where a fresh, clean start is the way to go. But sometimes it’s important to look at what you’ve learned so far and figure out how you might be able to build on it and use that momentum to move forward more quickly.
I’ve heard a lot of people of greatness say they’ve learned more from their failures than they did from their successes and I can understand how that would be true. When I see a lot of people win, I don’t see most of them reflecting on why they won. But if they lose, many people put a lot of energy into figuring out why – what worked and what didn’t. Regardless of the outcome of any situation, I think the most important thing is to be mindful of what we learn along the way and take the time to figure out how that can help us going forward.
